ScanSmith does not collect, store, or transmit any user data. Your documents never leave your device.

Overview

ScanSmith is a document scanning application developed by John Dean Martin, operating under the DialectForge brand. This privacy policy explains how ScanSmith handles your information. The short version: we don't collect any.

Data Collection

ScanSmith does not collect any data whatsoever. Specifically:

No personal information is collected
No usage analytics or telemetry
No crash reporting data
No device identifiers or fingerprinting
No location data
No advertising identifiers
No third-party SDKs or tracking frameworks

On-Device Processing

All document scanning, image processing, OCR text extraction, PDF generation, annotations, and e-signatures are performed entirely on your device using Apple's built-in frameworks (VisionKit, Vision, PDFKit, Core Image). No data is sent to any server — ours or anyone else's.

Network Connections

ScanSmith makes zero network connections with one exception: Apple's StoreKit framework communicates with Apple's servers to verify your purchase. This is handled entirely by Apple's operating system and we have no access to your payment information.

Document Storage

Your scanned documents, PDFs, extracted text, signatures, and all other data are stored exclusively in the app's sandboxed storage on your device. We have no ability to access, view, or retrieve any of your content.

Camera Access

ScanSmith requests camera access solely for the purpose of scanning documents. Camera data is processed locally on your device and is never transmitted, uploaded, or shared with any party.

Third-Party Services

ScanSmith does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or cloud storage providers. The app contains no third-party code beyond Apple's standard frameworks.

Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Since ScanSmith collects no data from any user, this policy applies equally to all ages.

App Store Privacy Label

ScanSmith's App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected" — the strongest privacy designation Apple offers.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever update this privacy policy, we will post the revised version on this page with an updated effective date. Given our commitment to zero data collection, we do not anticipate meaningful changes.
